Did you "actively rest" today?

   Nutrition, rest and exercise are the three major elements of human health. Marx said: "He who can't rest will not work." Shakespeare said: "Rest is the spiritual nanny that nourishes fatigue." Tao Xingzhi said: "Proper rest is one of the main secrets of fitness, and it must not be ignored. Ignoring healthy people is tantamount to joking with one's own life." Mao Zedong said: "Sleep and rest lose time, but gain energy for tomorrow's work. If someone does not know this and refuses to sleep, he will have no energy tomorrow. It's a loss of business." A new study suggests that people who don't get enough rest on the weekends to recharge are at a much higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease than the general population. Finnish researchers who tracked nearly 800 employees at a Finnish manufacturing plant for 28 years found that people who thought they couldn't "recover" from their weekend breaks were more likely to die from cardiovascular disease. Men and women who said they were "rarely" able to recover from work fatigue and stress were 3 times more likely to die from cardiovascular disease or stroke than those who "almost always" recovered from work fatigue and stress .

Misunderstandings about rest


  There are people who will not rest everywhere in life, and many people are unknowingly doing "loss business". Not being able to rest is largely related to people's lack of proper understanding of rest. To sum up, there are the following misunderstandings about rest.

  1. To stand still is to rest. Many people think that sitting on the sofa or lying still in bed is rest. Not really, because a break means a temporary cessation of work. If a mental worker, though sitting or lying down, continues to use his brain to think about problems, it is not rest. On the contrary, chatting and laughing with people, reading newspapers or listening to music, etc., these are rest. Moreover, a person sitting or lying down for a long time, standing still for a long time, not only affects the digestion of food, but also hinders the circulation of qi and blood in the human body, causing aging of the lower limbs, difficulty in walking, and inconvenience in walking.

  2. Entertainment is rest. Moderate entertainment can make people relax physically and mentally, and it should be said that it is a better rest. But if entertainment goes beyond the limit and loses control, it will lose the meaning of rest, and even endanger health. For example, playing poker and mahjong until late at night or all night long, some of which are of a gambling nature, which will make the brain nervous for a long time; dancing and watching TV for too long will consume people's energy, cause physical and mental fatigue, and endanger health.

  3. Rest after fatigue. Many people have tasted the taste of fatigue and know that rest can eliminate fatigue, but many people work for several hours in a row, even day and night, and wait until they are exhausted before resting. Of course, this drive can be praised, but it is not worthy of emulation, nor should it be promoted. Because this will make people sick from overwork for a long time. Many intellectuals died young, which was an important factor. The correct way should be to take active rest in advance, and take a short break if you are not tired. This is the trick to prevent fatigue and keep your energy strong. How to do this? That is to arrange work according to priorities, improve work efficiency, shorten working hours, and continue to strengthen learning, improve professional quality, and operate proficiently. After working for a period of time, stretch your arms, bend your waist, hum songs, listen to music, watch posters, work room exercises, dance, play ball, take a walk, etc., to buy time to take a proper nap.

  4. The more rest the better. Rest is the rest of the body and mind (brain), like "recharging", the main way is sleep. Moderate sleep can eliminate fatigue and restore energy. The length of sleep time should be determined by age, and adults get 8 hours of sleep per night. If the sleep time is too long, the activity time must be reduced accordingly. It should be noted that more static and less movement is not a good thing. Traditional Chinese medicine has long warned that "prolonged lying hurts qi". Too much sleep will make the body's qi and blood circulation poor, metabolism slow, organ function weakened, immune function decline, thus causing a variety of diseases, especially the elderly are prone to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Active rest should be taken


  In today's advanced technology, scientists have come to the conclusion that "life lies in exercise and rest" through various studies. In the process of life, moderate exercise is indispensable, otherwise the functions of tissues and organs will decline; but rest is also indispensable, because through rest, the body can be adjusted and repaired in time, free radicals can be eliminated, and aging can be resisted, which is conducive to prolonging life. Rest is divided into "negative rest" and "active rest". We advocate "active rest", and "active rest" is more conducive to health and longevity. The so-called "negative rest" is mainly composed of "quietness", which is mainly composed of play, sitting and lying; while "active rest" refers to changing different activities on time in daily life, that is, changing tension into relaxation. As long as you are mentally relaxed and happy, you can get adequate and effective rest. There are several ways to "actively rest".

  1. Variation rest. Chernyshevsky said, "The change of work is to rest." Many great and famous people are good at this kind of active rest.   2. Physical rest. Physical activity is the best way to get active rest. Leo Tolstoy always went to his gymnastics room to do a few sets of machine gymnastics after his writing fatigue. He said: "A person who buries his mind and works hard, if he doesn't move his limbs often, it is a very painful thing." The sports commonly used by families as fitness and active rest include walking, running, Taijiquan, health massage, qigong and so on.

  3. Recreational breaks. When you are tired, enjoying flowers, dancing and listening to music are all effective and pleasant rests. Some people think that people who skillfully add entertainment to their lives are the people who can live the best.

  4. Adversarial rest. Work at close range, take a rest from a distance; chat and argue for a long time, take silence as a break; spend a long time in the hustle and bustle of the world, take a rest in a quiet place.

  5. Medical breaks. For pathological reactive fatigue such as lack of qi, you can take medicines such as Sijunzi Decoction and Buzhong Yiqi Pill to relieve fatigue; if you are tired from walking, you can wash your feet with hot water; if you are tired of thinking, massage your temples; if you are tired of working or farmers Yes, you can beat your waist.

Scientific experiments show that the longer the human body continues to move or the greater the labor intensity, the greater the degree of fatigue, the greater the fatigue, and the longer it takes to eliminate fatigue. This is the drawback of "resting only when tired".
