This is zeng Guofan telling us what to do if you don't have talent for what you have to do.
Why is writing a must for Zeng Guofan? Since the Tang Dynasty, people have judged whether a person can work, be trusted and be promoted to a higher position from the four points of "body, speech, writing and judgment". And the emperor likes or dislikes a person, a big reason is "book", that is, a person can write good calligraphy.
Zeng Guofan was strong in the other three aspects, but he had no talent in calligraphy, but his calligraphy was practical and practical, not ugly. Without talent, it's no use thinking too much. You can't be Wang Xizhi or Wang Xianzhi if the ceiling is there. But no talent, does not mean no results, you form a good habit, stick to it will be effective.

One area where I personally have little or no talent is finance. Before I went to the United States to study MBA at the age of 27, I had studied science, engineering and medicine, and knew nothing about finance. I learn more about what I don't know and what I don't have talent for.
